Manatee

“Minor-keyed, depressive indie rock” never sounded so ambitious… At just over a year old, this four piece band out of Oakland, California has self-released a debut album; fine-tuned their rhythm section with the addition of two veterans of the San Francisco bay area music scene; and developed their singular live show while expanding their fan base at premium venues throughout the bay area, playing with the likes of Audrye Sessions, The Soft White Sixties, and Mister Loveless.

As if all this wasn’t enough for an up and coming band, team Manatee was instrumental in the production, release, and distribution of the Rose Hill Collective Volume 3, a twenty-one song sampler featuring two tracks from Manatee, who more than hold their own alongside music from Bay Area heavy hitters such as Audrye Sessions and Poor Bailey. Led by Casentini, the band gave away 5,000 copies of the compilation during the fall and winter of 2010 to enthusiastic music fans throughout the Bay Area.

And 2011 promises more of the same: the band is currently at work on pre-production for their sophomore release and booking a winter 2011 tour. Manatee will take the show on the road from January through March and make an appearance in Austin, Texas for 2011’s SXSW festival.
