The members of The Coalition (short for The Melodic Coalition for Unity & Harmony through Sound & Music) started playing together in November 2007 under the name Smajic’s Magic. Guitarists Dylan Stickel and Will Hodgins have played together from 2004 in various bands (Quickee, Turpentine). In 2008, Sina Nazarian joined the lineup on drums to complete the trio and their “epic sound,” as many fans say.
After playing the blues for many years, the band has decided to expand their musical horizons and take the blues to other places and use elements of rock, jazz, funk and soul, as well as newer sounds from hard rock to metal to just plain noise.
The Coalition are currently signed to Arc of the Universe Music Inc. and preparing to tour in support of their debut, self-titled album, which was officially released on June 10, 2011.
